We designed a retrospective exhibition of our work held at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University.
After meeting with the school and students, we determined that the best use of an exhibition for architecture students would be to convert the gallery into an informal gathering space for relaxing, napping, and events. While the gallery was primarily dedicated to the social needs of the students, a website created for the exhibition (sevenprojects.net) displayed the majority of the exhibition materials.
Online, we explored the complexities and process of seven of our projects in depth. We also provided a growing list of inspirations and passions that spoke to the design culture in our office. The website allowed our work to be viewed outside of the gallery and in the studio, where students accessed our research, drawings, and images for their assigned projects.
In the gallery, we referenced studio critiques by pinning images that illustrated our design methodologies. Students were invited to review our pinups, watch relevant movies, and relax in an intimate enclosure filled with pillows that also functioned as drawing surfaces. A scrim wall and careful lighting demarcated different zones of activity in this otherwise expansive space.
